Tonglu county in East China's Zhejiang province recently unveiled a string of appraisal systems for the work of governments at town or sub-district levels.
Their work in areas including rural construction, investment, economic development and public security will be assessed at regular intervals, according to an action plan released by the government at a conference on Feb 8.
A monthly evaluation of the performance of Tonglu's 14 towns (sub-districts) in the Beautiful Village rural construction campaign will be carried out, according to the document.
Meanwhile, their accomplishments in investment expansion in fields including advanced manufacturing, agriculture, culture and tourism will be evaluated every two months.
The economic development zones and large State-owned enterprises will also take part in the assessment.
Investments in fixed assets in Tonglu this year are targeted to grow at a pace of over 20 percent to 21 billion yuan ($3.2 billion), local authorities said.
In addition, quarterly rankings for towns or sub-districts in terms of economic performance and public security levels will be released as well.
The work related to hosting some events of the Hangzhou Asian Games, common prosperity, reform and Party construction will also be evaluated on a quarterly basis.
