An exhibition marking the 335th anniversary of the birth of renowned artist Jin Nong opened on Feb 27 at the Linping Art Museum – in the Linping district of Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province – and the show runs to March 15.
With its theme of plum blossoms, the exhibition collected hundreds of works by more than 100 calligraphy, painting, printing and inkstone artists from all over China to celebrate Jin Nong. The event also welcomes the Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 being held from Sept 10 to 25.
Jin Nong (1687-1763), born in Qiantang (today's Hangzhou) and buried in Linping, was a famous calligrapher and painter in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). He was especially good at painting plum blossoms and often drew on them for inspiration.

Painter Chi Changqing is showing his work Xuegu, or Snow Valley, at the exhibition. "I think Linping is a place where humanity is gathered and it also has something in common with the character of plum blossoms," Chi said.
The event has already proved to be a hit. "It allows us to perceive a multi-cultural atmosphere, which is very meaningful," said one visitor.
