Tonglu county in East China's Zhejiang province recently unveiled a negative list which local authorities should abide by during the process of enhancing urban and rural landscapes.
The list, which is the first of its kind in Zhejiang, has outlined 36 items that authorities at different levels in the county are forbidden or discouraged from implementing.
For example, places including mountains, mines and derelict land should not be damaged in the process and environmental afforestation should not use rockery, false flowers, false grass and other modern decorations that are synthetic.
Liu Shuhui, a local official, said that the negative list will effectively tackle several problems that had emerged in the campaign to enhance urban and rural landscapes.
