Capital seeks global input for economy
Beijing launched a competition to collect ideas all over the world for the International Convention and Exhibition and Consumption Hub in the Beijing Daxing International Airport Economic Zone on Thursday.
Wang Youguo, Party secretary of the city's Daxing district, said at the news conference that gathering in Beijing can be the first choice of international companies and professionals while investing in Daxing is investing in the future of China and the world.
And the airport economic zone is an innovative hub that helps the city to cooperate with other regions worldwide and become a new impetus for national development.
The zone's core region covers an area of about 150 square kilometers. Some 50 sq km is in Beijing while the rest is in the city's neighboring Hebei province.
The conference also announced future functions of the economic zone in an all-around way.
The zone will combine air transportation with railway transportation.
It will also advance cultural development and help to showcase Chinese culture to people from different countries and regions.
It will feature innovation in the airport economy and thus aid industrial development in the economic zone.
The zone aims to become an impressive area with a distinctive image. It also hopes to enable visitors to relax and sightsee.
The area will become a livable area that develops in an environmentally friendly and intelligent way, which makes it competitive.
It desires to promote international contacts and thus become a new area for China's opening-up.
Its International C&E and Consumption Hub will be developed based on globally creative ideas, Wang said.
The zone will explore a comprehensive development mode integrating a convention and exhibition center, a consumption hub and a park.
The area is a key support for Beijing's development into a center of global exchange, an international consumption hub and a global tourist destination.
Related government agencies planned expressways, rail lines, and systems of tramcars, bus rapid transit, bicycle lanes and walking for the economic zone in recent years.
