The Beijing Daxing International Airport Economic Zone launched an idea competition for the Daxing International C&E and Consumption Hub on April 23, inviting the world's top business planning and concept planning teams to create a new world-class landmark project in Beijing.
Two weeks later when registration closed, submissions had been received from 16 teams, each made up of 2-6 enterprises, for a total of 59.
By type of business, they can be categorized into:
18 developers and operators, including professional convention and commercial enterprises which are well-known at home and abroad;
13 leading international business planning companies;
21 planning and design firms, ranging from teams led by world-class designers to renowned domestic and foreign design companies;
7 creative agencies and industry associations.
By country, they can be classified into:
31 Chinese enterprises from all over the country including megacities Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Chengdu;
28 overseas enterprises from the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Australia and other countries.
Supervised by audit firms and bidding agencies, the airport economic zone called in specialists in the fields of exhibition, consumption and business consultancy on May 6 to review the 16 candidates.
Based on the credentials of the candidates and the development goals of the convention and consumption hub, the expert panel comprehensively evaluated each team's members, plans, and models. Eight teams were selected to join the project design.
