International beach festival opens in Dalian

The 18th Dalian International Beach Culture Festival opened in Dalian Jinshitan National Tourism Resort on the evening of July 24. It will comprise more than 30 events in 15 major categories, and will end on Sept 10.

The opening ceremony was an audio-visual carnival feast. It ignited the event by kicking off a water-splashing carnival participated by more than 11,000 visitors. China’s popular Black Panther band was the main attraction.

The water-splashing carnival ended on Aug 7.

A number of activities will be held during the festival on the themes of culture and tourism, electronic music, leisure, entertainment, camping, lantern show, sports, special agricultural product exhibition and sales, and concerts.

The festival is hosted by the Dalian International Beach Culture Festival Organizing Committee, and jointly organized by the Jinpu New Area Management Committee, the Dalian Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, and the Jinshitan National Tourism Resort Management Committee.

Integrating the elements of sea, culture, and tourism, the festival is also expected to drive the growth of the local economy.
