Those looking to experience slow-paced rural life could consider Tonglu county in East China's Zhejiang province.
A 13-square-kilometer zone which features some places depicted in the legendary Chinese painting Dwelling in Fuchun Mountains has been developing into a destination where people can experience a slower pace of life in the county.
More than 80 percent of the scenery depicted in painting that was created by master painter Huang Gongwang in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), is from Tonglu, where Huang lived in seclusion in his later years.
Earlier this year, the zone was also shortlisted as a provincial demonstration landscape at the county level.
Luci village, an integral part of the zone, has witnessed a boom in tourism in recent years, with tourism facilities such as homestays and campsites springing up in the village.
