BDIAEZ announces winners of global idea competition

Beijing launched a competition in April to collect ideas from all over the world for the International Convention and Exhibition and Consumption Hub in the Beijing Daxing International Airport Economic Zone (BDIAEZ), an innovative hub that helps the city to cooperate with other regions worldwide with a new impetus for national development.
The Daxing International C&E and Consumption Hub idea competition, themed with cutting-edge factors of people-centric, green and low-carbon, cultural inclusivity, new consumption, and smart tech, invited the world's top business planning and concept planning teams to create a new world-class landmark project in Beijing.
After nearly 100 days of competition, the proposal review meeting was held on August 19 and 20, and the top three then selected from the finalists.
Blooming Ideas
The Daxing International C&E and Consumption Hub, situated 40 km south of Tian'anmen and 4 km northeast of Daxing International Airport, is equipped with railways and roads and is known as "China's New Gateway". It has an area of 7.8 square kilometers, which includes the International Consumption Hub, the International C&E Center, and the Central Park.
Eight shortlisted teams submitted their final proposals on the positioning of the functional area, which shed light on the area's development. Experts agree that all competitors have completed high-level deliverables with an international vision.
Active Participation
The idea competition was launched at the end of April. When registration closed submissions had been received from 16 teams, each made up of 2-6 enterprises, for a total of 59. There were 31 Chinese enterprises from all over the country including megacities Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Chengdu, and 28 overseas enterprises from the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Australia and other countries.
Based on the credentials of the candidates and the development goals of the convention and consumption hub, the expert panel comprehensively evaluated each team's members, plans, and models. Eight teams were selected to join the project design.
Teams from nine countries with different professional backgrounds gathered for this idea competition, and participated in the whole process from competition launch to communication workshops, contributing to the construction of the Daxing International C&E and Consumption Hub.
Review and Decision
Seven experts from different fields were invited to the final review, with a focus on planning and design, conference and exhibition services, business and development, commercial operation and other fields.
Experts scored the final deliverables based on multimedia, proposal reports, exhibition boards, models and other materials. According to the evaluation criteria, they measured the proposals from multiple angles including originality, feasibility and technological innovation.

The BDIAEZ is collecting strategic, iconic and inclusive proposals globally for the development of the Daxing International C&E and Consumption Hub. It is expected to lead high-quality development, and emerge as a new engine for a modern economic system and also a new source of momentum for China's development.
Aiming to become a world-class consumer landmark, the BDIAEZ will draw upon the highlights of each proposal and introduce top domestic and foreign market players to build an international first-class high-quality airport city that will develop into a modern green airport economic zone with global competitiveness.
