Nearly 40 foreign experts from 15 countries working in Guangxi attended the Feb 26 symposium held by Science and Technology Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, offering advice on the region's sci-tech innovation.
Pressing issues like environmental protection, enterprise innovation, sci-tech talent, and opening-up cooperation were discussed.
Li Guozhong, director of the Science and Technology Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, said that foreign experts have brought advanced technology and management experience to Guangxi in various fields, including scientific and technological research, enterprise management, as well as culture and education.
Li also noted that Guangxi is now committed to actively providing a platform and conditions for foreign experts to work and start their own businesses. It is also focusing on attracting talents, as well as on creating a regional talent cluster and an international talent highland for ASEAN.
Since 2018, Guangxi has issued nearly 5,700 work permits for foreigners and 80 confirmation letters for foreign high-end talents.
The region has also attracted 70 young sci-tech talents from ASEAN and countries alongside the Belt and Road to work in Guangxi.
