At 33.9%, LONGi breaks world record for efficiency in crystalline silicon-perovskite tandem cells
On Nov 3, the efficiency of the crystalline silicon-perovskite tandem cells independently developed by China's photovoltaic company - LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (LONGi) - reached 33.9%, setting a new global record for the efficiency of crystalline silicon-perovskite tandem solar cells, according to the latest certification report from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) of the United States.

This breakthrough is the latest development by LONGi after the announcement of 31.8% at the SNEC 2023 on May 24 and 33.5% at Intersolar Europe 2023 on June 4.
It is of great significance in the research field of crystalline silicon-perovskite tandem cells in the Chinese photovoltaic industry, as this is the first time a Chinese enterprise has set the new world record in this field.

Li Zhenguo, founder and president of LONGi, stated that the photovoltaic conversion efficiency of solar cells is a key indicator and benchmark for evaluating the potential of photovoltaic technology. The emergence of crystalline silicon-perovskite tandem cell technology has opened up a new path for the development of next-generation high-efficiency solar cell technology.
"In November 2022, LONGi announced that its HJT silicon solar cells had achieved an efficiency breakthrough of 26.81%, setting a new world record. This time, the R&D team once again broke the world record for crystalline silicon-perovskite tandem solar cells, marking LONGi's position as the world leader in both HJT silicon solar cells and crystalline silicon-perovskite tandem cells," said Dr.Xu Xixiang, vice president of the LONGi Central R&D Institute.
Since the second half of this year, the development of the photovoltaic industry has faced many challenges. "LONGi has always been willing to focus on the exploration of cutting-edge industrial development technologies.
