Project team in Thailand contributes to local Mangrove cultivation
The "Ban Khlong Khon Mangrove Conservation Center" is located in Ban Khlong Khon, Samut Songkhram, Thailand, near the site of the Thailand Airport Soft Foundation Treatment Project team.
Mangrove forests play a crucial role in coastal areas and are considered a "paradise" for shrimp, shellfish, crabs, and fish, which provide food and a livelihood for villagers. They also protect the coastline from natural disasters, prevent coastal erosion, and serve as the best source of oxygen production. They are often referred to as the "ocean's green lungs" and "coastal guardians". Additionally, mangroves can greatly contribute to carbon sequestration, slow down climate change, and nurture rich biodiversity. Currently, the total area of mangrove forests in Thailand is about 1.5 million rai.
Ban Khlong Khon is considered an important mangrove area in Thailand. However, the original 37,000-rai mangrove forests were encroached upon for shrimp farming or other purposes, resulting in only 600 rai of mangroves remaining. The depletion of marine natural resources in the coastal areas has greatly reduced the ability to engage in coastal fishing, severely affecting the food sources and livelihoods of coastal villagers.

In September, during the rainy season, the Chinese project team participated in a volunteer activity organized by the China Harbour Engineering Company Thailand Office to plant mangroves. A total of 35 staff members, both Chinese and Thai, joined forces to protect the "frontline of Earth."

Aside from contributing to the local environment, the project team also visited students at Kongguang Elementary School. Most of the students come from nearby fishing villages with poor backgrounds, and some of the children even have illnesses and require special care from their teachers.

They brought many school supplies such as pencils and exercise books for the students, as well as clothes, snacks, and sports equipment like basketballs and volleyballs.
The Chinese constructors and local residents have made a promise to meet again in more projects where Chinese companies are involved in construction, using the power of both China and Thailand to build this beautiful land together.
