Ningcun village in Longwan district, Wenzhou, came alive on March 12 with a magnificent Hundred-Family Banquet. Families, friends, and neighbors gathered together to indulge in a feast of culinary delights.
More than 190 tables were arranged at the Tang He Temple, also spilling out onto nearby streets. The temple is a national-level intangible cultural heritage site established in memory of Tang He, one of the founding generals of Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). An array of mouthwatering local dishes was served.
Originating in 1561, the Hundred-Family Banquet traces its roots back to an annual prayer ceremony held on the second day of the second lunar month. This cherished tradition has since carried on for over 400 years.
