As Xiaomi, a popular Chinese smartphone brand, launched its first electric vehicle – the Speed Ultra 7 (SU7) on March 28, the Xiaomi EV Delivery Center in Longwan district, Wenzhou, one of the 29 such centers across China, has received waves of customers coming for test drives, consultations, or to pick up pre-ordered cars.
The 4,400-square-meter center delivered its first SU7 on April 3. Before each delivery, staff members in the store conduct a full quality-assurance inspection of the sedan's exterior, interior, and smart system.
Located in Xinghai sub-district, the Xiaomi EV Delivery Center is part of a growing cluster of new energy vehicle brands, including Tesla, BYD, and Nio. In 2023, the sub-district's total automotive sales stood at 5.38 billion yuan ($743.91 million), and the amount for this year is expected to reach 6 billion yuan.
