New 'Along the Silk Road' project unlocks Dunhuang Grottoes in 2024
On May 25, 2024, in Xi'an, the 'Along the Silk Road' arts and culture public welfare initiative, supported consecutively for four years by Applied Materials China, launched its third sub-project - Xi'an - 'Along the Silk Road · Applied Materials Company Essence Classroom' - at Chang'an Vanke City Primary School in Xi'an. This marks a new phase for the 'Along the Silk Road' urban cultural and artistic public welfare initiative in Xi'an.
At the event, the project initiator, Applied Materials (China) Co., Ltd., collaborated with the Shaanxi Women and Children Development Foundation, the Xi'an Association for Science and Technology, the Xi'an Museum Association, and several municipal museums in Xi'an, along with public welfare organizations from Shanghai and Xi'an, to witness the official launch of the 'Essence Classroom' and the donation ceremony of the youth popular science book 'Along the Silk Road - Technological Exploration in the Dunhuang Grottoes.'

The official launch of the 'Essence Classroom' and the donation ceremony of the popular science book 'Along the Silk Road - Technological Exploration in the Dunhuang Grottoes' focused on the cultural, technological, and artistic integration found in the world-renowned Dunhuang Grottoes. The book presents a unique perspective on Dunhuang from such aspects as architectural planning, mechanical engineering, material craftsmanship, and printing technology.
Additionally, the book comes with exquisitely curated hands-on material kits, aiming to engage young people in exploring Dunhuang culture, learning, inspiring scientific thinking, and stimulating their interest in science through the 'Essence Classroom.'
On the same day, the first expert lecture of the 'Beauty Lecture Hall' for the year 2024 was also held.
The upcoming year's 'Beauty Lecture Hall' will continue to focus on Xi'an's local cultural and museum resources, emphasizing virtual museum tours and visits to Silk Road cultural heritage sites. This initiative aims to enhance understanding of Xi'an's history and Silk Road cultural arts among local young scientists and citizens, sparking interest among history and culture enthusiasts nationwide in pursuing high-quality museum resources and Silk Road cultural arts."
