Guests from the Taiwan film industry announced for the CSFE

The 15th Cross-Strait Film Exhibition (CSFE) is being held in Ya'an, Sichuan province on May 27 to 31. Numerous guests from both sides of the Taiwan Strait have been invited to the event.

Let's check out the guests lineup from the Taiwan film industry.

Renowned Taiwanese director Chu Yen Ping

Director Chu Yen Ping is Taiwan's most important commercial comedy film director. He has directed such comedy films as To Miss With Love (Tao Xue Wai Zhuan) and Just Call Me Nobody (Da Xiao Jiang Hu). In 2022, he was honored with the Outstanding Contribution Award at the Taipei Film Festival. In recent years, Director Zhu Yanping has been actively promoting film exchanges between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, and his contributions are invaluable.

Director Wang Tong

Director Wang Tong has been in the film industry for nearly 60 years and has directed films such as the drama A Flower in The Raining Night (Kan Hai De Ri Zi), Run Away (Ce Ma Ru Lin) and the animated feature Journey to the West (Hong Hai Er Da Hua Huo Yan Shan). In 2019, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 56th Taiwan Golden Horse Awards. This time, he brings his drama film Hill of No Return (Wu Yan De Shan Qiu) to Ya'an.

Producer Yeh Ju Feng

Yeh Ju Feng is a sophisticated female film producer from Taiwan, known for her works such as A Sun (Yang Guang Pu Zhao), The Great Buddha+ (Da Fo Pu La Si), and Our Times (Wo De Shao Nv Shi Dai). In 2013, she received the Outstanding Taiwanese Filmmaker Award at the 50th Golden Horse Awards.

Producer Lee Lieh

Lee Lieh wears multiple hats in the film industry, including actor, producer and executive producer. She has appeared in many acclaimed films such as Xiao Cheng Gu Shi and That Day, on the Beach (Hai Tan De Yi Tian). One of her recent renowned works is the popular The Pig, The Snake, And The Pigeon (Zhou Chu Chu San Hai).

Renowned Taiwanese young director Lin Hsiao Chien

Director and screenwriter Lin Hsiao Chien excels in depicting humanistic concerns and delicately portraying characters' emotions. His film More Than Blue (Bi Bei Shang Geng Bei Shang De Gu Shi) achieved a remarkable global box office record of 4.8 billion yuan ($662.53 million).

Actress Yang Kuei Mei

Actress Yang Kuei Mei, known for her role in My Beloved (Ma Ma Zai Ai Wo Yi Ci), gained widespread popularity. Her films have been selected or awarded at prestigious events like the Oscars, Cannes Film Festival, Venice International Film Festival, and Berlin International Film Festival. She has won Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress at the Taiwan Golden Bell Awards, Asian Television Awards and Singapore International Film Festival.

Director Wei Te Shen

Wei Te Shen is a renowned director, producer and screenwriter from Taiwan, often referred to as the "person who changed Taiwanese film history." His directorial debut, the feature film Cape No. 7 (Hai Jiao Qi Hao), became the highest-grossing film in Taiwanese cinema history. His subsequent film, Warriors of the Rainbow: Seediq Bale (Sai De Ke – Ba Lai) was selected as an official competition entry at the Venice International Film Festival. In 2023, his film 816 (BIG), which he directed, was released.

Actor Fan Yu Chen

The well-known actor Fan Yu Chen is not only an actor but also a singer-songwriter. He has starred in popular films and TV dramas such as Cape No. 7 (Hai Jiao Qi Hao), the theme song of which performed by him won the Golden Horse Award for Best Original Film Song.

Director Wang Ting Lin

The film Breaking and Re-entering (Huan Qian) directed by Wang Ting Lin has become the double champion of the Taiwanese New Year film box office this year. This film is also expected to be shown during the event.

The film Breaking and Re-entering (Huan Qian) tells a funny and thrilling tale of a heist, injecting fresh charm into the New Year film genre. Chang Sheng Chung, with over 20 years of experience in film and television investment, possesses keen insight into investments in films and series from both sides of the Taiwan Strait.

Director and cinematographer Wang Ken Yu

Director Wang Ken Yu is a curator, producer and documentary director from Taiwan. Her documentary film Experimental Actors Studio (Lan Ling 40 –Yan Yuan Shi Yan Jiao Shi) shows 40 years of youth in Taiwanese theater and is definitely worth watching.

Director Yu Jhi Han

Huai Nan Hai is the first feature film directed by director Yu Jhi Han. His previous short films have been well received at major film festivals in San Francisco, Los Angeles, London and Hong Kong.

Director Wang Yu Chi

Director Wang Yu Chi has been in the film industry for over a decade, with experience in film and television in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Chinese mainland. She has worked as the chief screenwriter and assistant director in both production and post-production for films like Mulan (Hua Mu Lan). The Young Hoodlum (Xiao Zi) is her directorial debut and is filled with fantastical charm.

Wu Tsung Hsiu has already won over 300 gold medals in various world wushu arts competitions and has been certified by Guinness World Records as the "youngest wushu artist with the most awards."

Shi Xiao Yuan started practicing wushu arts at the age of two. He has won gold medals in international wushu arts competitions for children and secured a gold medal at the Hong Kong International Wushu Arts Competition when he was 3 and a half.
