Film 816 (BIG) presented during the 15th CSFE
On May 28, the Taiwan film 816 (BIG) was screened during the 15th Cross-Strait Film Exhibition in Ya'an, Sichuan province.
Wei Te Shen, director of this film, and actor Fan Yu Chen participated in a post-screening event, meeting the audience for face-to-face communication and discussing the ideological content of the film.
The film 816 (BIG) tells a story of six families from different backgrounds who support each other with love, sharing laughter and tears in a hospital ward. The film focuses on the children in the No.816 ward, depicting the details of their daily lives and presenting to the audience the laughter, tears, farewells and separations these children experience as they battle illness.
This film is the latest work directed by Wei Te Shen since 2017. "I laughed and cried during the process of writing the script, and after finishing it, I felt full of positive energy again." Wei said that the purpose of making this film is to find the meaning of life from these vulnerable children.
"What are people really pursuing? Are we seeking utilitarianism or the realization of our own brilliance? I believe the meaning of life lies in creating a wonderful life," said Wei.
