Hill of No Return (Wu Yan De Shan Qiu) is a Taiwanese film shot in 1992, and the version screened this time is a restored version. The film revisits the subtle relationship between the people of Taiwan and the Japanese rulers during the Japanese occupation time. The main plot follows two brothers who run away to the Jinguashi mine to dig for gold, encountering various life experiences with minor characters such as Arou.
At the post-screening gathering, Wang and Yang recalled for the audience scenes from the shooting of the film. They also shared some techniques in film creation and performance, with the audience saying they had attended a "master class".
"The first time I watched this movie, I thought I would watch it in multiple sittings, because it lasted for three hours. But in fact, this film was captivating. I am very happy to see this movie again on the big screen in Ya'an," said Chen Xin, who traveled from Lanzhou, Gansu province, to Ya'an for the event.
