In 423 AD, Xie Lingyun (385-433), the originator of landscape poetry, passed Jinyun Mountain in Jinyun county, Lishui, Zhejiang province, on his way home after resigning from his official post. He docked his boat and went ashore to explore the mountains and waters in Jinyun.

As far as can be verified today, Xie was the first prominent historical figure to travel to Jinyun and leave behind written records. He mentioned Dinghu Peak and Huangdi culture in his work, bringing fame to Jinyun Mountain, which is believed to be the place where the Yellow Emperor ascended to heaven.
