Since the launch of national logistics hub construction efforts in 2018, Xi'an has emerged as the first city in inland China to establish a "4 Hubs + 1 Base" comprehensive logistics hub.

The "4 Hubs + 1 Base" framework consists of four national logistics hubs based on land ports, airports, production services, and commercial and trade services, as well as a national backbone cold chain logistics base. Xi'an is developing an efficient logistics system to promote the clustering of supply and industrial chains.

From January to September this year, the "4 Hubs + 1 Base" model generated a total logistics revenue of 135.95 billion yuan ($19.16 billion) and gathered more than 25,000 companies engaged in manufacturing, trade, and logistics.

During the period, Xi'an's total import and export value reached 304.92 billion yuan, marking a 15.7-percent year-on-year increase. Trade with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative also rose by 25.37 percent.

Furthermore, the airport hub currently operates 12 all-cargo routes. As of Oct 28, the cargo throughput of Xi'an Xianyang International Airport had reached 231,000 tons.

In the future, Xi'an will focus on four key areas: reducing logistics costs and increasing efficiency, improving infrastructure capabilities, upgrading hub operations, and promoting the deeper integration of hubs and industries to strengthen the "4 Hubs + 1 Base" model.

The city aims to build a world-class inland port, establish a high-quality, modern international logistics system, and continue expanding its network of cargo routes.
