Zhangzi Island

In the waters of Changshan Islands in Dalian, the first batch of "Hemei Island" - Zhangzi Island - in China is like a "pearl of the Yellow Sea" embedded in it.

As the only land island transportation port station on the island, the Shabao Port passenger and cargo terminal project, constructed by China Communications Construction Company’s Second Harbor Engineering Company, is currently operating at full capacity and speed.

The Shabao Port passenger and cargo terminal project

The Shabao Port passenger and cargo terminal project is located in Changhai county, Dalian, the only island county in Northeast China. Investment in the project came to approximately 420 million yuan ($58.72 million).

As the largest modern marine ranch in Asia, Zhangzi Island is rich in sea treasures such as sea cucumber, abalone, and scallops due to its winding coastline and intersecting rocks. However, this also poses significant challenges for environmental protection construction.

The project team fully considered the reality of the construction area being close to the marine aquaculture area, actively studied and researched excellent domestic engineering cases, and tailored a comprehensive green construction plan to minimize equipment noise and reduce the impact of seabed disturbance on marine organisms, ensuring that they are in a stable and suitable habitat and growth environment.

As of now, the project has successfully completed the sand casting and leveling construction of the breakwater foundation, and is progressing the prefabrication of caissons and the subsequent construction of rotary jet grouting piles.

After the completion of the project, it will effectively improve the transportation service level of Zhangzi Island, and help it to fully develop its fishery economy and cultural tourism industry.
