Chinese New Year in Xi'an: Tradition, joy, and hospitality

Xi'an, an ancient capital with over 1,000 years of history, has again become one of the hottest travel destinations for Chinese New Year. Major scenic spots across the city launched spectacular activities, creating a festive atmosphere brimming with the essence of Chinese New Year.

Cultural heritage: A city's time-honored traditions

As the birthplace of many traditional customs, Xi'an took pride in showcasing the essence of the Spring Festival.

Visitors walked atop the ancient Xi'an City Wall, explored Emperor Qinshihuang's underground army, and admired the grandeur of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Performances like The Song of Everlasting Sorrow brought history to life, while interactive activities such as archery, pitch-pot games, and hanfu parades offered immersive cultural experiences.

Festive atmosphere: A city aglow with celebration

Xi'an transformed into a mesmerizing wonderland. From the glow of the Chang'an Lantern Festival to the vibrant streets of Tang Paradise, every corner exuded festive charm. Red lanterns and Chinese knots decorated shopping malls, traditional markets, and residential areas, creating a joyful atmosphere.

The city's renowned food culture also took center stage, with visitors indulging in biangbiang noodles, lamb paomo, and sweet rice cakes.

Warm hospitality: A city embraces everyone

Xi'an's people added a special warmth to the festivities. Whether guiding lost tourists, enthusiastically sharing local recommendations, or playfully correcting the "proper" way to eat local dishes, their humor and friendliness left a lasting impression. Visitors frequently praised Xi'an's welcoming spirit online, turning many into devoted ambassadors for the city.

Global appeal: A city captivate the world

The charm of Xi'an's Spring Festival extended far beyond China, attracting international visitors eager to experience authentic Chinese traditions. Tourists from Italy, the United Kingdom, and Malaysia marveled at the city's deep cultural roots, breathtaking festivities, and the warmth of its people.

With over 47,000 international arrivals at Xi'an's ports during the holiday, the city has solidified its position as a top global destination for celebrating Chinese New Year.
