Xi'an Xianyang International Airport Terminal 5 redefines Northwest China's aviation hub

Xi'an Xianyang International Airport's Terminal 5 (T5) is set to open on February 20, 2025, as part of the Phase III expansion project. With an investment of 46.9 billion yuan ($6.47 billion), the project aims to accommodate 83 million passengers and 1 million tons of cargo annually by 2030. 

T5, the largest airport construction project in Northwest China, will revolutionize passenger travel with its modern facilities and cultural richness, positioning Shaanxi as a leader in regional development.

As China's first T5-grade terminal, it will serve domestic flights by major airlines and international flights to Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, boosting the region's aviation hub status. The terminal features advanced check-in facilities, a streamlined customs process, and a unique dual-level departure and arrival layout for passenger convenience and operational efficiency.

T5's architectural design blends historical aesthetics with modern sophistication, inspired by ancient Chang'an and the Tang Dynasty's architectural grandeur. Inside, a museum showcases archaeological aircraft, offering a cultural experience to travelers. The terminal also boasts a state-of-the-art integrated transportation hub for seamless connectivity with various transportation options.

Equipped with China's most advanced baggage handling system, T5 ensures high accuracy in baggage processing, virtually eliminating misrouted luggage. The terminal's focus on service quality and operational efficiency aims to provide a superior passenger experience, contributing to the advancement of China's transportation infrastructure. 

The opening of T5 marks a significant milestone for Xi'an Xianyang International Airport, solidifying its position as the premier aviation hub in Northwest China and driving economic growth in the region. As the terminal begins operations, it is expected to have a profound impact on the area's strategic and economic development, further enhancing Shaanxi's role as a key player in regional connectivity and global engagement.
