State Grid Quzhou Power Supply Company begins construction on Zhejiang Qujiang Pumped Storage Power Station
State Grid Quzhou Power Supply Company workers began construction at the Qujiang Pumped Storage Power Station in Liangtou Tang village, Zhejiang province, on Tuesday.

The 500 kV transmission project for the Qujiang Pumped Storage Power Station in Zhejiang province is one of the year's two major pumped storage transmission projects in the region. It serves as a crucial initiative for "green, stable, and reliable" energy, with a primary goal of optimizing the primary power grid structure, ensuring regional energy security, and fostering the green transformation of the energy landscape.
The new transmission line for the project stretches 37.651 kilometers, traversing two county-level administrative regions of Quzhou city: Qujiang district and Longyou county. A total of 107 transmission towers will be erected, with a total investment exceeding 195 million yuan. The project encounters challenging terrain, high construction complexity, significant coordination hurdles, and stringent construction requirements. The project is slated for completion and operational commencement in March 2026. To expedite project advancement, State Grid Quzhou Power Supply Company has implemented lean management practices and established a government-enterprise coordination mechanism with local authorities to effectively fulfill various policy-related tasks.
Throughout the construction phase, State Grid Quzhou Power Supply Company will actively promote mechanized construction methods. They will utilize cableways and freight drones for transporting construction materials and tools, integrating the use of rotary drilling rigs, integrated devices for deep foundation pit operations, new control machinery, and intelligent visual tensioning equipment. These strategies will mitigate risks associated with foundation pit and high-altitude operations, thereby enhancing construction efficiency.

According to the company, this connection will significantly bolster peak-load regulation, power supply security, and the renewable energy integration capabilities of Zhejiang's power grid, fortifying the grid's operational safety and economic viability. It will provide substantial support for Zhejiang in reaching its "dual carbon" objectives.
