Henan Nanyang: Power services extend to fields to ensure safe electricity use during summer harvest

Updated:2025-05-26

On May 21, in the wheat fields of the river beach area in Shijia Gully village, Laocheng town, Henan Nanyang, grid managers from the Laocheng Power Supply Office of the State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company were actively working in the fields. They reminded combine harvester operators to protect power facilities and prevent any external damage.

Due to a prolonged drought, the farming season has been moved forward by two weeks. To ensure safe electricity use during the wheat harvest, the State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company has been proactive in planning and strengthening the management of electrical safety during this critical period. The company has enhanced its service system by forming a dedicated power supply service team for the summer harvest, offering "close-to-zero-distance" services to meet the electricity needs of wheat harvesting. They have also conducted comprehensive inspections and rectifications of agricultural distribution transformers, residual current devices, and irrigation pump stations to promptly address any safety hazards.

During the wheat harvest, the power supply service team ventured deep into the fields and threshing areas to conduct safety inspections. They quickly addressed and rectified any safety hazards that did not meet technical requirements and provided villagers with technical guidance and services to resolve electricity-related issues. Additionally, they performed timely load statistics and analyses, completed inspections of transformer substations, and adjusted the load on certain lines to ensure the equipment operated smoothly.

Moreover, the company distributed convenient service cards to villagers, reminding them not to connect wires privately. They posted prominent electricity safety posters in the fields to warn farmers against piling wheat straw under power lines and set up visible signs on utility poles and guy wires to prevent large harvesters and tractors from accidentally hitting them, which could cause power grid accidents.

The State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company plans to increase the number of on-duty personnel during the summer harvest period, implement 24-hour service, and promptly address any unexpected electricity-related incidents. The company will also enhance supervision and guidance in the fields to ensure safe electricity use during the wheat harvest through practical measures.
