State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power: Green electricity powers tourism
In early summer, the town of Xikou in Fenghua district, Ningbo, Zhejiang province, is bustling with tourists.

As a national 5A-level scenic area, the Xikou Tourist Center has recently seen a surge in visitor numbers, with a significant increase in the flow of new energy vehicles. On May 15, employees from State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power arrived at the scene with toolboxes and testing instruments to conduct a special inspection of charging piles and promote safety awareness, ensuring that tourists' green travel is powered by a "fully charged" electricity supply.
The Xikou Tourist Center's charging station is equipped with 15 direct current (DC) charging piles, featuring a total of 27 fast-charging nozzles. It serves nearly 200 new energy vehicles daily and is an important node in the comprehensive charging network of Fenghua. To cope with the peak tourist season in summer, the State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power staff meticulously checked the operational status of each charging pile, focusing on the efficiency of the cooling system and the stability of the payment functions. They also conducted infrared temperature measurements and potential hazard inspections on the incoming power lines. "The cooling of the charging piles directly affects the lifespan of the equipment and the charging efficiency. We must ensure everything is perfect," said Zhang Qianhao, a power supply worker, while recording the data.
At the service site, young employees from State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power transformed into "green electricity tour guides," distributing copies of the "Safe Electricity Use Manual" to tourists and explaining first-aid measures for electric shock and common household electricity knowledge in simple language. Practical tips such as "do not stay in the car for extended periods while charging" and "avoid outdoor charging during thunderstorms" were printed in cartoon comic booklets, attracting many parents with their children to stop and learn. On that day, more than 30 brochures were distributed, and over 50 tourist inquiries were answered.
It is reported that Fenghua district is accelerating the construction of an intelligent, open, and economically convenient charging infrastructure network system that integrates fast and slow charging options. Currently, more than 2,800 public charging piles have been installed across the district, covering scenic areas, rural regions, and transportation hubs. Through regular inspections, intelligent monitoring platforms, and emergency response mechanisms, State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power ensures the efficient operation of charging facilities.
This not only enhances the travel experience for tourists but also supports the construction of "zero-carbon scenic areas" with green electricity, injecting sustainable momentum into Fenghua's cultural and tourism economy.
