Strengthening Hangzhou's power supply against plum rain season flood
The plum rain season is currently in full swing, and Hangzhou has been experiencing frequent heavy rainfall due to the combined effects of the residual cloud systems from typhoons and cold air. State Grid Hangzhou Power Supply Company has made significant arrangements and launched a comprehensive battle to ensure power supply, flood prevention and security, striving to guarantee the safe and stable operation of the power grid and reliable power supply.

Faced with the severe and complex flood prevention situation, State Grid Hangzhou Power Supply Company has thoroughly implemented the important instructions from higher authorities regarding flood prevention and disaster relief work, prioritizing flood prevention and power supply security as the primary task. Relying on digital and intelligent means, the company has strengthened risk monitoring and early warning, optimized emergency response procedures, and ensured the smooth operation of the power grid's "lifeline" during the flood season.

On Xinsha Island, located in the middle of the Fuchun River, power supply employees have conducted comprehensive inspections of key facilities on the island, such as switch stations and drainage stations, to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the "island microgrid." This microgrid system effectively addresses the stability issue of Xinsha Island's power supply, which previously relied solely on a single 10-kilovolt cross-river line. In the event of extreme weather like typhoons that cause interruptions to the main power grid, the system can immediately switch to emergency mode, with the island's wind turbines, photovoltaic panels, and energy storage stations working together to provide independent power supply.

"The flood season poses a severe challenge to our power grid equipment, especially substations in low-lying areas and power lines along rivers and in mountainous regions. Before the plum rain season began, we initiated a special investigation, using intelligent inspection drones, infrared thermometers, and other equipment to conduct focused 'health checks' on tower foundations, drainage systems, and slope protections. Flood prevention materials such as sandbags, pumps, and emergency generators have been pre-deployed to key locations, and emergency repair teams are on standby 24 hours a day. This ensures that in the event of an emergency, we can respond at the fastest speed and minimize the impact on users," said Xu Jianfei, a patrol officer from State Grid Hangzhou Power Supply Company.

In addition to strengthening human and material defenses, the company has fully leveraged technological flood prevention capabilities. It has applied big data analysis to predict weak links in the power grid, optimized power grid operation modes, and equipped advanced emergency lighting, drainage equipment, and emergency repair vehicles. These measures have significantly enhanced the emergency response capabilities and repair efficiency under complex and severe weather conditions.
