The launch ceremony for the 2025 national workers’ recitation campaign, and a national trade union reading exchange event, was held in Yinchuan, the capital of Northwest China’s Ningxia Hui autonomous region, on July 4.

At the ceremony, worker representatives from Ningxia presented a multimedia performance centered on a 100-meter scroll depicting the history of China’s labor movement. Divided into four chapters — revolutionary struggles, socialist construction, reform and opening-up, and advancing in the new era — the performance vividly retraced the development of China’s working class over the past century.

Launched jointly by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions and the Cyberspace Administration of China in 2016, the campaign has been successfully held for 10 consecutive years and has grown into a major national initiative promoting positive online engagement among workers.

According to organizers, more than 12,000 submissions, including multimedia works and case studies, were collected nationwide in 2024. Following expert evaluation, 898 outstanding works and cases were selected, reflecting the creativity and positive spirit of workers across the country.

Officials noted that trade unions across Ningxia have strengthened online communication efforts in recent years through an integrated new media matrix centered on official websites and platforms including WeChat, Weibo, Douyin and video channels.

The region has also expanded reading-related activities for workers through recitation contests, essay competitions, lectures and knowledge contests, both online and offline, fostering a stronger culture of reading among the public.
