Nestled along the Yellow River, Wubu county in Yulin is on a quest to harness its rich historical legacy, pioneer innovative cultural tourism models, and bolster its infrastructure, catapulting the tourism industry to unprecedented heights.
Renowned as a "living stone museum", the rugged textures of the stone walls, interspersed with ancient stone steles and resonant bells, narrate the county's captivating tales.
With a strategic focus on military culture, Wubu has introduced a slew of novel initiatives including ancient military cultural exhibitions, immersive experiences with military armor, and guided tours of historic battlefields. These endeavors have enriched the cultural tourism landscape, drawing an influx of visitors.
Wubu is also forging ahead with the development of tourism infrastructure, embarking on a series of pivotal cultural tourism projects aimed at augmenting the capacity and services of its scenic locales.
Noteworthy among these initiatives is the ongoing construction of the Stone City Tourism Service Center, which includes a visitor service hub, museum, and simulated scene exhibition hall.
In 2024, the county welcomed 794,000 tourists, generating a total tourism revenue of 280 million yuan ($39.05 million), a 37.1 percent year-on-year upsurge.
"Authorities will distribute consumption vouchers and organize immersive events, such as photography sessions and camping festivals along the picturesque Yellow River, to elevate the tourist experience," said Guo Feng, deputy director of the Wubu cultural tourism bureau.
