Main structure of Nairobi Green Park Underpass Project completed

The main structure of the Green Park Underpass Project in Nairobi, built by China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) and executed by CCCC Second Harbor Engineering Co, was completed on Sept 26.

The Greenpark underpass is located in the center of Nairobi, in a place with heavy urban traffic. The main structure of the project consists of a main passage, connecting passageways, and entrance and exit staircases at both ends, along with ancillary facilities such as restrooms and parking sheds. The underpass has a total length of approximately 178.6 meters, a height of 4.5 meters, and a width of 9.1 meters, with shops set up inside.

Due to the complex traffic in the area and its proximity to major bus hubs and city thoroughfares, the project team implemented measures such as phased construction and strong traffic guidance.

The construction period was marked by heavy rainfall, posing risks of water seepage and collapse during deep excavation. The project team ensured construction safety and quality by optimizing the drainage system and reinforcing support structures.

During construction, the project team provided jobs for local workers, enhanced their skills through training and participated in community public welfare activities, earning unanimous praise from the local government and residents.

Upon completion, the Greenpark underpass will alleviate traffic pressure, improve road traffic efficiency, and enhance the city's image. It holds importance for improving the public service system and promoting urban commercial development.
