Johor Bahru-Singapore RTS System boosts economic development
The Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) water viaduct project, constructed by China Communications Construction Co (CCCC), passed its final inspection on June 30, 2025. It marks the successful completion of the project, which spanned 1,170 days from Apr 18, 2022, to June 30, 2025.
During construction, the project team adhered to the principles of "safety first, quality-based, scientific management, and lean construction", overcoming the challenges related to working in complex water environments to achieve the stated goals. The project saw three major achievements: no safety incidents, no quality defects, and no delays, earning high praise from various units.
The water viaduct starts from Johor Bahru and extends to the border of Johor Strait, spanning approximately 800 meters. The approach bridge is a simple-supported beam bridge with a standard span of 45 meters, while the main bridge is a continuous beam bridge with variable sections measuring 95 meters + 110 meters.
The RTS is expected to be completed and operational by 2027, improving cross-border transportation between Malaysia and Singapore and promoting the two countries' economic development, cultural exchange, and tourism integration.
