Third International Conference on Fashion and Sustainability begins at Wuhan Textile University

The third International Conference on Fashion and Sustainability is set to begin on Oct 27 at Wuhan Textile University (WTU), running through Oct 29. This significant event will bring together over 300 leading scholars, industry leaders, and innovative practitioners from more than 10 countries, including China, Japan, and Greece.
Participants will engage in discussions on new concepts, technologies, and pathways for sustainable development in the fashion industry. The conference will focus on three key themes: "Cultural Heritage and Innovation", "Technological Innovation and Future Fashion", and "Sustainable Fashion Education".
A distinguished lineup of global experts in fashion and textiles will deliver keynote addresses. Notable speakers include Xu Weilin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Party secretary of WTU; Jintu Fan, chair professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University; and Shinichi Kushigemachi, president of Bunka Fashion Graduate University, Japan.
The diverse conference agenda features thematic forums, parallel sessions, workshops, and exhibitions. A special "Belt and Road" forum will explore opportunities for cooperation in the fashion industry among countries along the route.
A cultural performance will showcase ethnic costumes and dance from Qiandongnan Miao and Dong autonomous prefecture in Guizhou province, highlighting the fusion of traditional crafts and modern design.
A sustainable design education workshop will provide a platform for interactive discussions and exploration of new models in sustainable design education.
From Oct 26 to 29, several special exhibitions will take place. The Sustainable Design Works Exhibition will showcase eco-friendly creations, while the China-Japan Cooperative Education 10th Anniversary Achievement Exhibition will highlight the successful international collaborations in fashion education at the WTU School of Fashion.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit the university's science and technology museum and campus to learn about the latest research advancements in new textile materials and advanced processing technologies.
