The Ethnic Costume Culture and Dance Performance from Qiandongnan Miao and Dong prefecture in Guizhou province will be a special highlight of the third International Conference on Fashion and Sustainability (ICFS 2025), held from Oct 26 to 29 at Wuhan Textile University.
The event will showcase the innovative fusion of traditional craftsmanship with modern design. A key feature of the performance is the Dong Pipa Ballad, recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage. This piece is an anthropological treasure and serves as the "living encyclopedia" of Dong culture, narrating the stories and wisdom of the Dong people.
The Miao dance, integral to the Miao Drum Festival, acts as a cultural bridge connecting the past, present, and future of Miao society. This dance is distinguished by its bold, vigorous, and passionate movements.
The Women's Chorus will present Miao songs, which carry the imprints of ancestors and the emotional tapestry of the people, functioning as a vocal history book. They permeate every aspect of Miao life, from fieldwork to weddings, childbirth, house building, courtship, and social visits.
The Ethnic Costume Fashion Show will highlight Qiandongnan's ethnic costumes, a brilliant tapestry of multi-ethnic and diverse characteristics.
The Group Dance performance will be a spectacular showcase of multi-ethnic dance art, highlighting the cultural essence and contemporary style of various ethnic groups across China's vast territory.
