Xuanhua lantern song is a longstanding folk performing art prevalent in Xuanhuadian town of Dawu county, Xiaogan, Hubei province. It is performed during celebrations such as the Spring Festival and Lantern Festival. It is also seen at weddings, funerals, seasonal events, and stage performances.

The performance is flexible in form, involving one or two performers dressed in theatrical costumes who play different roles. Some pieces may include more than two performers. The performers sing while dancing, narrating stories through movements and lyrics.

The props used are everyday and production tools, such as spinning wheels, straw raincoats, bamboo hats, and lanterns. The movements are simple yet vivid, mimicking real-life actions. Accompaniment is provided by percussion instruments – gongs, drums, and large cymbals.

This art form is also popular in Dingyuan county of Henan province and Hong'an county of Hubei province.
