Hager: A strong partner for sustainable electrification in China
As German Chancellor Friedrich Merz visits China, the German company Hager reaffirms its long-term commitment to the Chinese market and its mission in supporting safe, efficient and sustainable electrical solutions.
Founded in 1955 and headquartered in Blieskastel, Germany, Hager is a leading provider of products, solutions and services for electrical distribution, energy management and building automation. For more than 70 years, Hager has been shaping the electrical world with a clear purpose: making life safer, cleaner and more enjoyable.
Delivering proven expertise across key Chinese industries
Hager's expertise in China is demonstrated through concrete projects across key industrial sectors, supporting energy transition, advanced manufacturing and sustainable infrastructure development.
In cooperation with Conch Group, a Fortune Global 500 company, Hager China has delivered a fully customized low-voltage power distribution solution for two new waste-to-energy facilities in Lincang (Yunnan) and Nandan (Guangxi). Once fully operational, the two plants will generate more than 124 million kilowatt-hours of renewable electricity annually, supporting China's transition toward cleaner energy and circular economy models.

Hager's expertise is also recognized in high-barrier industrial environments. Hager partnered with Baowu Steel Group, the world's largest steel producer, for a rolling-mill upgrade project in Shanghai.

High-Tech Development Zone Project, Shenzhen, China
In the high-tech manufacturing sector, Hager supports the development of TCL CSOT's High-Tech Industrial Zone in Shenzhen, a major project with an investment of 9.1 billion yuan ($1.31 billion). Selected for its international reputation and technical reliability, Hager provides intelligent low-voltage distribution solutions across production facilities, laboratories and infrastructure, contributing to the localization and upgrading of China's display industry value chain.
Five-year growth strategy – strong commitment to China
Hager's relationship with China began in 1994 when it exhibited at a fair in Shanghai. Three years later, Hager officially entered the Chinese market and has continuously expanded its local footprint ever since. Since 2002, two production bases have been established in Huizhou and Dongguan, manufacturing products for the global market.
Hager's business scope includes products, solutions and services ranging from power distribution, cable management and wiring accessories to building automation and energy management. With 32 sales offices across the country, Hager has a well-established marketing and service network in China covering regions from Xinjiang to Hainan.
"China is part of our global growth strategy. We are expanding and investing in our business here and firmly believe in the long-term potential of the Chinese market. We are committed to establishing lasting partnerships and co-creating innovative solutions that support local development," said Sabine Busse, CEO of Hager.

On the one hand, Hager strengthens cooperation with Chinese enterprises, focusing on ecological collaboration, value chain integration, and technology sharing, while advancing in the fields of intelligence and digitalization, to create more competitive solutions and provide new momentum for the high-quality development of the industry.
On the other hand, Hager is exploring a path of sustainable development in China, aligning with Chinese policy directions and focusing on the power, energy, industrial and new infrastructure sectors. Hager is actively implementing the concept 'In China, for China', independently developing products and system solutions suitable for specific segment applications, and providing responsive services.
What's next? – The future is electric!
Electricity is not just the backbone of modern life – it is one of the driving forces of global transformation towards a smarter, more sustainable world.
"We believe in electrification. Buildings are key to successfully implementing the energy transition, and we are a part of it. We provide products, services and solutions that are reliable, intelligent and easy to integrate, and which also sustainably reduce emissions, " said Sabine Busse, CEO of Hager.
By entering the digital energy management services market through investments in the software companies Eficia in 2023 and Advizeo in 2024, Hager expanded its portfolio to include digital solutions that create measurable added value.
Hager's solutions are designed to help customers cut their carbon footprints and extend positive impact beyond operations. In 2025, Hager earned the EcoVadis Platinum rating, placing it among the top one percent worldwide for ESG performance. In addition, Hager achieved a CDP "A-" (Leadership) score for Climate Change in the 2025 assessment. The "A-" score represents one of the highest CDP levels and recognizes companies that demonstrate best practice in climate governance, transparency and measurable action.
Thinking in generations
As an independent, private company, Hager thinks and acts in generations. This long-term mindset enables Hager to invest consistently in innovation, people and sustainable growth. Hager's founders strived for quality, perseverance, reliability, and responsibility towards customers, partners and employees. This spirit still defines Hager today.
