Hunan province will deepen the integration of culture and technology over the next five years, fostering new forms of cultural expression in digital spaces, officials said on Nov 29, 2025.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, Hunan province has demonstrated remarkable results. Tourism consumption topped 1 trillion yuan ($145 billion) last year, and Malanshan Video Cultural and Creative Industrial Park has gathered over 4,300 enterprises, leading to the development of thousands of key technologies and establishing itself as a nationally influential "China V-Valley". Digital platforms like YouXiangYou and SumHi App have also made smart tourism and online cultural relic appreciation a reality, resulting in an average of 5.05 cultural venue services per capita.
Looking forward to the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30), the province intends to focus on three key aspects to enrich integration outcomes: expanding local cultural resources with projects like the National Language Resources Museum; diversifying tourism experiences by fostering the "Greater Zhangjiajie" international brand and advancing the concept of all-for-one tourism; and energizing digital cultural development by accelerating growth in sectors like audio-visual and digital performance. This strategic approach will also include the establishment of Changsha University of Culture and Technology, and the cultivation of leading cultural enterprises.
Hunan province aims to enhance cultural vibrancy, improve tourism convenience and foster engaging technological advancements through deeper integration in the coming years.
