Hunan TV's 4K ultra-HD channel to launch
Hunan Satellite TV is scheduled to launch its 4K ultra-high-definition channel on Sept 28. The new channel aims to provide viewers with enhanced clarity, smoother visuals, and a more immersive audio-visual experience across multiple devices, along with a broader selection of content and easier access.
The channel is set to feature a variety of programming, including news segments, prime-time variety shows and dramas presented in 4K format. Mango TV, the online platform, has stocked nearly 4,000 ultra-high-definition programs for viewer consumption. Additionally, full technical and transmission preparations have been completed, allowing for nationwide signal accessibility via cable TV and IPTV networks.
Hunan Broadcasting System has built a complete 4K production and broadcasting system. Its proprietary ultra-HD intelligent cloud platform maintains production costs at 1.2 times that of HD TV while raising operational efficiency by more than threefold.
HBS began its 4K exploration in 2019 with the construction of its first 4K news studio. The organization has since developed a 4K outside broadcasting van and developed a time-slice capture system. Through extensive content production, restoration and acquisition, HBS has amassed rich industry experience and a robust content portfolio.

Now HBS boasts advanced self-developed technologies, including cloud production, the application of China's HDR Vivid and Audio Vivid standards, and an IP-based intelligent broadcasting system. The organization has also expanded 4K coverage across six platforms, like Aniworld TV (Golden Eagle cartoon).

The upcoming channel embodies the "dual-platform" model by integrating Hunan TV's broadcasting strengths with Mango TV's new media technologies. This launch marks a key step for HBS in integrating culture and technology and provides new impetus for the development of China's ultra-HD industry.
