As a core event of the Sixth China (Ningxia) International Wine Culture and Tourism Expo, the five-day contest brought together over 200 skilled workers from 29 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities to showcase their craftsmanship, boosting the high-quality development of Chinese wine.
Jointly organized by the Trade Union of Financial and Commercial Workers, Light Industry and Textile Workers, Tobacco Industry Workers and Ningxia Federation of Trade Unions (FTU), the competition focuses on two major roles — sommelier and winemaker. The evaluation aligns with national technician standards while incorporating practical skills and new technologies and practices.

To ensure fairness and professionalism, 13 renowned experts from Northwest A&F University and leading enterprises like Changyu, GreatWall, and Dynasty were invited to serve as judges.
In addition to theoretical exams and practical rounds, participants will visit local wineries to share techniques and exchange culture.
Relying on Ningxia's national wine pilot zone, the event aims to bridge talent gaps and upgrade the industry. Local trade unions plan to use the event as an opportunity to strengthen worker training and launch more skills contests to spark innovation across the sector.
