The annual showcase of the 5th Cross-Lingual Chanting Assembly of Confucian Classics took place in Nishan, Jining, Shandong, on Aug 27.

Under the theme "Benevolence, ritual, and harmony: Beauty in diversity", the event bridged cultures through classical texts and languages, integrating digital technology with diverse art forms to vividly illustrate the contemporary relevance and global significance of Confucian thought.

Li Shihua, Party secretary and deputy director of the Nishan World Center for Confucian Studies, emphasized Shandong's role as both a major economic powerhouse and the birthplace of Confucianism.

Li noted the center's ongoing efforts in hosting the Nishan Forum on World Civilizations and launching the "Qilu Visiting Study and Research Residency Program", which has attracted nearly 40 international scholars. With over 40 Confucius classrooms established in 20 countries, these initiatives have opened up new windows for people around the world to better understand China.

The gala featured joint performances by Chinese and international youth, showcasing the depth and inclusiveness of Chinese culture. Singers from both sides performed Try Everything and Harmony in Diversity, blending multiple languages and musical styles in a celebration of civilizational dialogue and Confucian heritage.

Since its launch in December 2025, the conference has attracted over 60,000 participants from more than 60 countries, including the Unites States, Russia, Japan, and Germany, who submitted over 31,000 works in 14 languages.

As a flagship cultural event, it has now reached over 80 countries with nearly 300,000 total participants, drawing more than 300 mainstream media outlets worldwide and accumulating over 300 million online views, helping promote Chinese culture abroad.
