China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) is upgrading Container Terminals 1 and 2 at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

The project supports Saudi Vision 2030 and China-Saudi Belt and Road cooperation and includes berths, yards, and auxiliary facilities to increase cargo handling, transshipment, and storage capacity, strengthening Dammam's position as a regional logistics hub.

The main steel structure of the warehouses is complete, enabling mechanical and electrical installation and equipment commissioning. The largest warehouse measures 14,000 square meters. The warehouses have large spans, high eaves, and heavy steel use.

No safety or quality incidents were reported, with crews working during cooler morning and evening hours and following heat-stress prevention and safety measures amid high temperatures and high winds.

Once operational, the warehouses will enable all-weather cargo handling and storage, reducing heat and sandstorm disruptions and improving operational efficiency and environmental performance.
