Jinyu Bridge completes section A2 mainline connection
The section A2 of Quanzhou Jinyu Bridge, constructed by CCCC Second Harbor Engineering Co (CCCC SHEC), has completed its mainline connection, marking a major milestone in the construction of the bridge spanning the Luoyang River.
As the third modern bridge crossing the Luoyang River in urban Quanzhou, Jinyu Bridge starts west at the intersection of Chengdong Street and Anji Road in Fengze district and connects east to the Quanzhou Taiwan Investment Zone. It stretches 4.48 kilometers in total. Its main bridge features dual eight-lane carriageways and a design speed of 60 km per hour. Two interchanges, namely Wuyu and Luoxiu, are arranged along the route. This key municipal project of Quanzhou is also the first to break ground among the city's three newly planned river- and sea-crossing passages.
Since construction commenced, the project team has adopted scientific construction scheduling, optimized resource allocation, and implemented standardized management. It has overcome a host of difficulties including deep-water foundation works, casting of long-span girders, and complex construction coordination during typhoon seasons, to deliver high-quality progress in line with scheduled milestones.
The connection of the A2 mainline completes the continuous structural link between the superstructure and substructure of the bridges in this contract section. This paves the way for subsequent deck system work, asphalt paving, and the installation of traffic safety and electromechanical facilities, accelerating progress toward the full bridge's scheduled opening.
Jinyu Bridge will ease traffic congestion on Luoyang River Bridge to its north and Houzhu Bridge to its south by diverting vehicle flows between the two crossings. The travel time from Chengdong to the Quanzhou Taiwan Investment Zone will be shortened to eight minutes. Furthermore, the bridge will improve Quanzhou's bay-ring transport network, boost industrial integration on both banks of the Luoyang River, and make travel more convenient for local residents.
