Shaanxi expects balanced power supply amid rising demand
State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power Co expected Shaanxi's peak electricity load to reach 47 million kilowatts in summer 2026, up 4.7 percent year-on-year, while power supply was projected to remain broadly balanced through coordinated dispatch, grid upgrades, and demand management.

The company also expected to have 2 million to 3 million kW of surplus capacity available for interprovincial power support during most periods, helping meet electricity demand beyond Shaanxi.
To strengthen grid reliability, the company accelerated 80 key projects ahead of the summer peak and completed 56 distribution network projects involving 10-kilovolt lines and lower-voltage infrastructure. It also scheduled 8,598 maintenance operations on equipment rated at 35 kV and above during its spring maintenance campaign to identify and address potential faults.
The company coordinated power generation resources, optimized hydropower and energy storage operations, and intensified inspections ahead of extreme heat, heavy rain, and strong winds. Additional patrols targeted urban villages and older residential communities.
To protect essential services, the company strengthened emergency response capacity and conducted safety inspections at hospitals, schools, water supply facilities, and eldercare facilities. It also refined emergency power supply plans for residential communities and improved customer service channels to address electricity-related concerns.
These measures aimed to maintain grid stability, ensure reliable electricity for households and businesses, and support economic activity during the summer peak.
