The program, launched in March, combines improvements to external power supplies with enhanced emergency backup capabilities to ensure reliable electricity for medical equipment and daily care needs.
At Houji nursing home in Wugong county, Xianyang, home to more than 100 elderly residents, including many who require assistance with daily activities, a new dual-circuit system was put into operation on May 13. The system automatically switches between two power sources, reducing the risk of disruptions to vital equipment such as oxygen concentrators and cardiac monitors.
After receiving the application on March 19, the local power company completed external line construction on April 3 and preliminary inspections of the internal wiring on April 28.
Across Shaanxi, the company has established eight sets of technical standards tailored to different facilities and is developing customized upgrade plans. It is also organizing inspections, addressing electrical hazards and helping nursing homes improve emergency preparedness.
By the end of April, power supply projects for the first 15 eligible nursing homes in Ankang had been completed and put into operation.
