Quanzhou Baiqi Passage completes all pile foundation work
The CCCC Second Harbor Engineering Co (CCCC SHEC) completed all pile foundation work for the contract A1 of the Quanzhou Baiqi Passage on Oct 12, shifting construction focus to the superstructure.
This key provincial and municipal project runs 3.42 kilometers, with one sea-crossing bridge and two interchanges. It is designed as a Class 1 highway and urban arterial road with a speed limit of 60 km per hour. Its main bridge is a 2×168-meter single-pylon, double-cable-plane, split steel-concrete composite girder cable-stayed bridge, the first in Fujian province with twisted cable planes.
Located at the Luoyang River estuary, the site features fractured rock, boulders, tidal shifts, and corrosive seawater. Engineers deployed advanced pre-drilling surveys and proprietary techniques, achieving 100-percent pass rates for both first-class pile integrity and core sampling.
The pylon's steel anchor beams are in place, and the 27th segment is underway, with topping-out scheduled for late November. The crossing will ease congestion on Houzhu Bridge and strengthen regional connectivity.
