Bridge M2 on Kragujevac Northern Bypass completes closure
All T-girder erection for Bridge M2, a main-line structure of the Kragujevac Northern Bypass in Serbia, was finished, marking the bridge closure on Sept 1. Work has now shifted to the deck system phase.
Located in Kragujevac, the scheme is designated a project of national importance for Serbia. The 21-kilometer main carriageway is designed for 100 km per hour and connects to existing State Road 24. Upon opening, it will divert freight traffic, ease urban congestion, and upgrade the regional road network.
The contractor will build one interchange bridge, 13 main-line bridges, and five overpasses, with a one-way bridge length of 5.02 km. An on-site precast yard will produce 940 T-girders at a daily output of 3.5 units. Bridge M2 has 13 spans and a one-way length of 792.2 meters. Piling started in August 2025, and the first T-girder casting began March 19, 2026.
Substructure work for Bridges M1-M5 is now complete. Precasting of 426 T-girders for M1-M4 is done, with M5’s T-girders due by late September. As girder erection and deck construction proceed in parallel, crews will continue these final phases.
