Charging piles inspected ahead of holidays
As the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays approach, there will be a surge in travel by new energy vehicles. To ensure the safe and reliable operation of charging facilities during the holidays, on Sept 17, a Communist Party member service team of State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power's Shangnan branch organized a special safety inspection of public charging piles, supporting green travel.
With the increasing popularity of new energy vehicles, the number of charging piles in urban areas continues to grow, and the demand for charging is steadily rising. If hazards such as ageing equipment, worn charging gun heads, and malfunctioning protection devices are not promptly addressed, they can directly affect the public's travel experience and charging safety.
The service team members visited major charging stations in the urban area to inspect each station's body, power supply lines, leakage protection devices, grounding systems, and fire protection facilities. They focused on checking for wear on charging gun heads, loose internal wiring, and the operational status of equipment to ensure that the charging piles are "fit for duty".
"This charging pile's gun head seal is a bit worn, posing a risk of water ingress during rainy weather, and needs to be replaced promptly," said one team member. During the inspection, team members recorded issues on-site and provided immediate feedback, addressing problems on the spot when possible. For issues requiring part replacements, they established hazard logs, set clear deadlines for rectification and ensured a closed-loop resolution of problems. Additionally, team members explained key points of daily equipment inspections and emergency handling methods to charging station managers, advising them to increase inspection frequency during the holidays.
"I'm planning to drive back to my hometown for the holidays and was worried about potential charging issues on the road, but seeing you here checking makes me feel reassured!" said a new energy vehicle owner at a charging station, giving a thumbs-up to the service team members inspecting the equipment.
So far, more than 160 charging piles have been inspected, with six hazards identified and rectified. Moving forward, the Shangnan branch will continue to monitor the operation of charging facilities during the holidays, strengthen inspection and maintenance efforts, and bolster emergency repair capabilities. They will respond to public charging needs 24/7, ensuring that new energy vehicle owners can "charge up, charge fast and charge safely", supporting the public's green travel and a safe holiday.
