State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power has made comprehensive arrangements for the May Day holiday to ensure that the public can travel with peace of mind and businesses can operate smoothly.

Strengthening inspections

The foundation of holiday power supply lies in equipment, with outage prevention being crucial. State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power regards line and equipment inspections as an important aspect of ensuring supply and uses technology and grid services to conduct comprehensive "health checks" on power grid equipment.

Since mid-April, the urban Xianyang branch of State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power had launched special inspections and protection work for lines. Maintenance personnel used infrared detectors to measure loads and node temperatures of power supply lines and equipment for key organizations. On-duty personnel are on standby 24/7 and materials are well-stocked to respond quickly and effectively in case of emergencies during the holiday.

In Yan'an, the Ansai district branch of State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power leveraged grid service advantages and combined manual inspections with machine inspections to conduct checks on critical facilities such as transmission lines, distribution transformers and distribution boxes. Based on power guarantee experience and this year's climate characteristics, detailed power guarantee plans were made. Methods such as infrared temperature measurement were used to conduct inspections of distribution lines in places such as the Yaogu (waist drum) mountain scenic area and major hotels and guesthouses, ensuring safe and stable power supply.

To ensure holiday power supply, State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power identified 688 key power guarantee sites, including popular scenic areas, transportation hubs, hospitals and malls. They signed 602 power guarantee responsibility agreements for major events, conducted 717 special electricity safety inspections and organized 88 emergency drills with key users.

They formed 447 power guarantee teams, with 4,405 power service personnel, and prepared 1,232 emergency repair vehicles, 365 emergency generators, 184 emergency power vehicles, and 152 power supply backup devices.

Precise service

In a village on the northern foot of the Qinling Mountains, guesthouses are experiencing a peak in both visitor numbers and electricity usage.

Members of the Communist Party service team from the Chang'an district branch of State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power visited one of the boarding houses. They checked key equipment and areas such as restaurant lighting sockets, high-power kitchen appliance lines, leakage protectors and outdoor wiring, inspecting line insulation, equipment grounding and switch operation status one by one.

According to the team members, during the holiday, the kitchens' freezers and cooking equipment are often used simultaneously, resulting in high electricity loads, so it's important to regularly check the lines and leakage protection devices.

Considering the frequent thunderstorms in mountainous areas, team members also provided face-to-face education on electric shock first aid, electrical fire prevention and safe electricity use during rainy days, and distributed safety manuals.

In the Malan valley area of Xunyi county, employees from the Malan branch of State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power visited a forest resort to conduct inspections of power distribution rooms, transformers, low-voltage distribution boxes, charging piles, backup power sources and major electricity consumption facilities, guiding the resort in preparing emergency power guarantee plans.

"The branch helped us troubleshoot in advance, which gave us peace of mind," said a representative of the resort's engineering department.

State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power also organized a second inspection of densely populated areas such as scenic spots, commercial centers, transportation hubs, hotels, guesthouses and cultural tourism venues. They reviewed power source information and conducted special inspections on emergency power configurations, high and low voltage equipment operations and fire equipment.

The company established a "one-on-one" contact mechanism for important customers and contacted cultural tourism entities such as tourist attractions and memorial halls to promptly explain changes in power load and understand customer needs.

Full support

During the May Day holiday, the demand for charging new energy vehicles peaks. In response to this, State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power conducted inspections and maintenance of charging facilities in urban commercial areas, tourist attractions and suburban parks in advance. They checked the operation of the vehicle network platform, strengthened on-site duties at key sites, enhanced real-time monitoring of the platform, and provided user guidance and emergency services to ensure timely responses to charging service needs and proper handling of customer requests.

Meanwhile, State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power strengthened coordination with transportation and cultural tourism departments, releasing travel and charging guides through online and offline channels to guide consumers to use off-peak times.

In Dali county, Weinan city, the Zhaodu power branch conducted comprehensive inspections and maintenance of public charging piles in its jurisdiction.

A manager at the branch said: "We checked the charging piles and transformer cabinets, measured the load temperature of circuit breakers and tightened all contact points to ensure the stable operation of charging facilities."

During the holiday, special guidance is also arranged for tourists on charging at service areas, according to the manager.

The Zhen'an county power branch conducted comprehensive inspections, focusing on residential communities, transportation hubs, scenic spots, as well as public charging piles and residential charging equipment. Since rural charging piles are often installed in private yards or open spaces and exposed to wind, sun and rain, inspection personnel visited homes to test leakage protection devices one by one, ensuring the healthy operation of equipment.
