On March 30, State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power Company announced it will invest 13.8 billion yuan ($2.06 billion) in main power grid infrastructure this year. It will launch 94 new main-grid projects ranging from 35 kilovolts to 750 kV and put 107 projects into operation. At peak construction, 178 projects will be built simultaneously in Shaanxi, including four 750-kV substations and 20 330-kV substations.

So far, construction is underway on 95 power transmission and transformation projects across Shaanxi's grid. Key projects supporting national strategies and local economic growth, such as the outbound transmission project for the Shaanxi-Anhui UHV line and the 330-kV Yulin China Coal transmission and transformation project, are advancing with strict quality controls.

A flagship project under Shaanxi's power development plan, the third 750-kV transmission corridor linking northern Shaanxi and the Guanzhong region, is now in the acceptance phase.

"We plan to finish acceptance checks for all 1,809 transmission towers along the entire line within three months. Fixed-wing drones will be used throughout the line inspection process, greatly improving efficiency and quality in complex terrain. We will make every effort to ensure the project goes online on schedule," said Xu Geng, operation specialist with the First Transmission Operation and Maintenance Branch of Shaanxi Power Transmission and Transformation Engineering Company.

Wu Shijie, lead of the document acceptance team for the Yan'an section of the northern Shaanxi to Guanzhong 750-kV third corridor, said that once operational, the line's transmission capacity will rise from 6.1 gigawatts to more than 10 GW.

This will substantially boost north-to-south power delivery, strengthen the backbone grid, guarantee safe and reliable power supply for the Guanzhong and southern Shaanxi regions, and provide support for the outward delivery of new energy from northern Shaanxi, regional energy allocation and the green transition of the energy sector.
