A 10-kilovolt line wildfire-prevention isolation transformer starts operation

On March 31, a 10-kilovolt line wildfire-prevention isolation transformer was put into operation on the Nanao branch line of the 168 Heichi line at the 110 kV Huangbao substation operated by State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power's Tongchuan Power Supply.

As the first of its kind in Shaanxi province, the equipment has filled a gap in wildfire-prevention technology for distribution networks in the province's mountainous areas, changing the traditional model of manual patrol and passive response and，ensuring the safe and stable operation of power lines.

Passing through extensive forest areas and villages, the Nanao branch line of the Heichi line provides essential electricity for agricultural production and residents' daily needs along the route.

"The equipment can monitor its own operating status in real time 24 hours a day. Through smart circuit breakers, it enables remote data transmission and control commands," said Zhang Zhen, director of the development and construction department of a branch company of State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power, which is dedicated to power supply for Yintai and Wangyi districts of Tongchuan city.

"It is like an intelligent fire-prevention guard' on the line. Once a dangerous situation occurs, it can instantly cut off the faulty section and protect the safety of the main line," Zhang said, adding that their prevention and control work has evolved from "passive firefighting" to "active defense".
