This forum aims to promote the ecological protection and development of the Yellow River Basin through activities such as speeches, forums, and the release of collaborative governance initiatives.

Ningxia is the only province in China where the entire territory belongs to the Yellow River Basin.

In recent years, Shizuishan city in Ningxia has been coordinating industrial restructuring, pollution control, and ecological protection. The ecological restoration project of mountains, waters, forests, farmland, lakes, and grass has been included in the national pilot program. The ecological governance of Helan Mountain has also been recognized as one of the 10 typical cases of China's ecological protection and restoration.

Wang Wei, deputy secretary of the CPC Shizuishan Committee, and head of Shizuishan city stressed  that the in-depth discussions and exchanges with attending leaders, experts, and scholars on topics such as the efficient and intensive utilization of water resources and ecological protection, as well as comprehensive management of rivers and lakes and the health of water environment will explore new directions and new technologies for ecological protection and management.

During the forum, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and spokespersons from the Water Resources Management Bureau of Yellow River Conservancy Commission, Sichuan province and Ningxia Hui autonomous region delivered keynote speeches.

The forum was hosted by the CPC Shizuishan Committee, People's Government of Shizuishan, the China Agricultural Engineering Society of Hohai University, and the management committee of the wine industry park at the eastern foothills of the Helan Mountains.
