A mixture of red tourism initiatives were launched in the Memorial Hall of the Fourth National Congress of the Communist Party of China in Shanghai on Friday.

Among the activities to get the red carpet treatment in the Memorial Hall were the 2024 Shanghai-Ningxia red tourism boutique routes and the Shanghai "Liupanshan" charter flight.

Shanghai is the birthplace of the Communist Party of China. Liupanshan, or Liupan Mountain in Guyuan, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, was a key landmark in the Red Army's Long March and continues to embody the great Long March spirit. The red cultures of Shanghai and Ningxia are deeply interconnected, forming a strong foundation for cooperation in red tourism between the two regions.

Friday’s event, themed "Starting from the Land of Original Aspiration, Undertaking the Long March of the New Era", promoted Ningxia's red tourism resources. Between them, Ningxia and Shanghai have introduced 10 boutique red tourism routes. Among them, five routes connect Shanghai to Ningxia, and five routes connect Ningxia to Shanghai.

The charter flight made its first trip to Ningxia on Sunday, bringing 100 Shanghai tourists who embarked on a six-day journey through Ningxia. On Monday, a welcome ceremony for the inaugural charter flight was held at the Liupanshan Red Army Long March Tourism Area in Ningxia. The first group of Shanghai charter flight tourists participated in red tourism-themed activities there.
